There are two ways to feed Young Again Cat Foods

At YA, we highly recommend Free-Choice feeding.

If you must restrict feed your cat, please use these guidelines:

Average consumption for 24 hours:

8 lb. cat –  Level ¼ cup

10 lb. cat – Rounded ¼ cup

12 lb. cat – Level 1/3 cup

15 lb. cat – Rounded 1/3 cup

20-25 lb. cat – Level ½ cup

For Maine Coons and other giant breeds add ¼ cup to each of above measures for 12 pounds and up.

PLEASE NOTE: Because Young Again is a nutrient-dense food, your cat will eat MUCH LESS than other cat foods. It does not mean your cat does not like our food.

Adult cats need more than just maintenance nutrition—they need a diet tailored to their changing metabolism and mineral requirements. Zero Mature is crafted with 100% meat protein, less than 1% starch, and no grains or plant ingredients, making it the perfect choice for pre-diabetic, diabetic, or overweight cats.

As cats age, they become more sensitive to starch and carbohydrates while requiring fewer minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium. This formula’s low-glycemic profile helps maintain blood sugar balance and supports a healthy weight, while reduced mineral levels (phosphorus at 0.50%) help protect aging kidneys and overall organ function.

Fortified with potassium citrate for urinary support and DHA plus Omega-3 & 6 fatty acids for brain, joint, and skin health, this diet delivers complete, balanced nutrition for every adult cat—whether healthy or managing metabolic concerns.

Formulated to meet the AAFCO Cat Food Nutrient Profiles for All Life Stages, Zero Mature is a clean, meat-based solution designed for cats no longer growing bone (typically 18+ months old, or 3 years for giant breeds).

Will be renamed to TruCarnivore Zero Adult in 2026.

We have been using Young Again Mature Zero formula now for almost a year. My 16-year-old Dark Gray Tux, Boo, was diagnosed with diabetes July 2024, placed on Bexacat tablets. She did very well on it. Never read all the reviews on your website, and was so pleased to hear this food has helped get many diabetic cats get to remission. Boo included. Will be keeping her and my other non-diabetic kitty, on YA from now on. They both really like it. Plus they get a wet food that has no carbs in the formula. And another dry that is low/no carb for variety. Thanks YA, you rock.

My cat just turned 8. We did a full blood work up and everything looks perfect. I started YA about 2.5 yrs ago when he started having urinary issues. He hasn't had any issues since. I did run out and ordered another brand to get it here quickly and his glossy coat turned dull and flaky. Back to YA and won't be switching.

  3. Aeriel W.

This food has gone above and beyond for my cats, especially my most senior cat. He was just diagnosed with very early stage kidney disease and early hyperthyroidism, but since I've been feeding them this food even before he was diagnosed since I adopted him a couple months ago, he has great phosphorous levels and he is building healthy muscle mass back! When I brought him home he couldn't even jump on the couch or anything, now he can jump all the way up on our really high bed (we have stairs for him anyway, but he can do it!) and he loves running around the house and jumping onto the couch for snuggles. I had to give them their old food for a few days last month (my fault, I forgot to put in my order) and all three cats turned sluggish and didn't want to do anything. As soon as they got their Young Again food back they were back to their normal energetic antics! This food gives them energy, top quality nutrients they need, and supports a very healthy lifestyle for my kitties. Plus, they love it!! We're on bottomless bag now and we're never going back!

***While Aeriel has had wonderful success with our Zero Mature product due to the low phosphorous content,  we would suggest our LID Zero Mature for her cats.  Our LID Zero Mature contains only Hydrolyzed pork (no Chicken) as the protein source and has low phosphorous as well.  The hyrdrolyzed meat protein source is very easy for kidneys to process, making it the best for kidney cats and their adult housemates.

In December 2024, my BFF who has a cat rescue specializing in elderly cats who are doomed to be euthanized at the shelter, recommended this food. Our two cats are young at just five years old so I reached out to Young Again to find out what the best food would be for them. To my delight the President of the company responded right away with the following email: Hi Libby, Our Zero Mature Health would be s great choice. No carbs and low in phosphorus to help protect long term kidney health. Michael J. Massie President Young Again Pet Food LLC 31008 Fox Hill Avenue Stacy, MN. 55079 TF 800 311 6646 PH 651 462 2249 FX 651 462 1844 I ordered the Zero cat food and we started feeding it to them and they just love it!

I would probably give more than 5 stars, if it was possible. My 12 year old cat was diagnosed as diabetic a year ago. The vet started him on insulin and I was checking his blood sugar levels at home. Within 2 weeks of changing his diet to Young Again Zero Mature along with low carb wet food, he went into complete remission and came off the insulin. He hasn't had a high blood sugar reading in over a year. I just check it once a month for good measure, and it stays around 100. I discovered this cat food while researching safe dry foods, for diabetic cats, because Taffy is a kibble addict. He also likes variety in his life and gets bored with foods very easily, so he gets his Young Again Zero Mature at night to graze on and a variety of low carb wet foods throughout the day. He went from 19 pounds to 16 and now 14. The vet wants him down to 12, so we're getting there. He is so much more active since eating Young Again Zero Mature. Thank you so much for saving our boy from diabetes and insulin.

I started off with Zero and have switched to Zero Mature. Have been eating this food since early 2024. I have two cats at home and they easily transitioned. The best part is my diabetic cat went into remission within a few months and has stayed that way for almost a year now! I am saving money with no insulin or needles and both cats are healthy. My vet was in shock. Highly recommend!!

  7. Carol G.

I used this food for a diabetic cat, and with this diet she did not require insulin. I recommend it often to adopters at our shelter who take home our diabetic kitties, as an alternative to the prescription diet we feed there. I also use it as treats for those cats while they're with us. Cats love it.

  8. jennifer B.

After researching ‘dry’ food for our newly diagnosed diabetic cat I decided to give this food a go. I chose this food based on a few factors: the other cats can eat it, I can leave it down to let them free feed and it actually has less carbs than the prescription options. I tried to do the ‘pate’ fancy feast and my guy HATED it, lol! He loves to free feed and loves dry food and this has been working really well so far for me and all the cats in our house. The vet wanted to look at the ingredients and while she ‘couldn’t say it was a complete diet’ because there is no vet on the board it was a great low carb/no carb option. If you have a cat that loves dry food give this a shot!

All Young Again foods are complete diets and are formulated to meet or exceed the nutritional levels established by AAFCO Cat Food Nutrient Profiles.

YA zero cat food has helped my cat’s blood glucose numbers be normal after YEARS of trying to find the right diet/insulin dose. Now knowing what I know about feline diets, I’ll never feed my cats anything else. So grateful for YA!

  10. Ayellet

As the owner of a diabetic cat who has been on Bexacat for the past 6 months, I was hesitant to try a new cat food. However, I'm so glad I took a chance on this brand. I've only been feeding it to my cat for 2.5 weeks, and I've already seen an impressive 5 point decrease in his blood sugar numbers. What really sets this company apart is their exceptional customer service. When I reached out with questions about using this food alongside Bexacat, the president of the company personally responded to address all of my concerns. They were incredibly knowledgeable, transparent, and went above and beyond to ensure I felt confident in transitioning my cat to this new diet. Honestly, I wish I had found this cat food sooner, before starting Bexacat. Based on the rapid improvements I'm seeing, I'm hopeful my cat may even be able to go into remission and eventually stop the medication. If that happens, you can bet I'll be leaving an even more glowing review. This is simply the best cat food for diabetic felines that I've come across. The customer service is unparalleled, the quality of the ingredients is top-notch, and the results speak for themselves. I give this product my highest possible recommendation. (Client has fed both the Zero and the Zero Mature during the time of this review so it has been posted in both product reviews.)

  11. Emily

I was very wary of trying this and debating for a whole year before caving and giving it a try. I called and asked all of my questions and felt reassured. Fast forward to a year later, my cat is STILL in remission and had great numbers on our last visit.

  12. Billy P.

We are in the process of switching all four of our cats to your food…not just the one with diabetes (who is now in remission – THANK YOU!!). Thank you so much for saving our little furball from multiple pokes a day :). I am so blissfully happy that he's better!

  13. Laurel B.

Both of my senior cats are in remission (diabetes) with just this food alone. Please do not hesitate to try it. It's saving my cats lives. They both also have asthma and are needing to be on steroids long term. So being in diabetic remission is so important. Thanks so much Young Again !!

  14. Susan

My cats blood work was great for his age of 14 and I’m sure your food and plenty of filtered water helped with that, plus no more urinary crystals or bladder stones, thank God. His vet was surprised that his kidney function was normal so I told her about YA.

  15. Melissa

My 14 year old female Chaos was diagnosed with diabetes about a year ago. We struggled with insulin shots and low carb vet diets with no luck and lots of weight loss. She is a due hard dry food mirror and just wouldn't eat the wet no matter what i mixed in our sprinkled on it. At the time I was also having food and medication issues with my 15 year old tuxedo Zak and 14 year old tabby Weiser, who both suffer with thyroid disease and CKD. One day I'd had enough and decided there had to be a better way, so I started googling and found young again. I was mildly hopeful at first and spoke to my vet, she said she could not recommend the food because it didn't have the credentials that she felt were necessary…I basically said to heck with her opinion and ordered the food. I am so happy I did, my diabetic (to my vet's surprise) is in full remission! And ofcourse I would not shut up to everyone in the vets office about how Young Again cat food works miracle. In addition my other (3) cats are doing well with the food (the 3rd is Dean the long haired calico) he was always getting constipated… but not anymore, he has been very regular since starting on young again which makes him and me very happy 🙂 so overall hands down this is the absolute best cat food out there. I talk about it so much that 2 of my coworkers have started their cats on it and the one with the diabetic cat is also now in full remission! I love this stuff ❤️

I have been using your Zero Mature food since my diabetic cat was diagnosed 13 years ago. He is now gone. He had been diet controlled with your food for years and died of old age. I kept using the Zero Mature food because my cats were all doing so well on it. I just got back from the vet for a wellness check for Trout, my fifteen year old sassy tortie. He was absolutely amazed at how good she's doing and how much muscle she still has at her senior age. He asked what I was feeding her. I told him about your food and how I switch to it for Rocky and after he died of old age, I just kept feeding it. He said it must be amazing because Trout is doing so well. He asked where I get it. She is going back in a couple of weeks for a dental. Do you have some literature about your food and company that I could bring to that visit to show him. I don't usually advertise companies, but your food is truly amazing. I reminded him that when Rocky had to be hospitalized, they fed him their RX vet diabetic formula and his glucose shot up to 700. All 6 of my cats continue to do great on the Zero Mature and I'd like to share any information you have with my veterinarian.

My 17 year old cat had blood work. My vet said he had the blood work of a healthy 4 yr. Old. I guess that's where they get the name "Young Again" . Sammy also had a fatty tumor on his shoulder that has all but disappeared. Oh , I almost forgot, he suffered terrible with IBS , loose bowels to the point of him crying, since moving to Florida. Back home he could catch rabbits and birds, here there are too many predators, so he didn't have access to the outdoors. The high protein in Young Again has cured his loose bowels . Can't thank this company enough! .My four cats are fed Zero Mature.

Like others, I found Young Again cat food while searching for a reduced phosphorous option for a senior cat with early CKD. Sassy is 15 at the youngest (I found her on the street so her age is a guess) and while she has always been healthy and well hydrated, age does catch up with all animals eventually and she was diagnosed with very mild, early-onset CKD about a year ago. She also has hyperthyroidism, and between these two conditions she was rapidly losing weight, even with medication. Since switching her wet food to a low phosphorus option and her dry food to Young Again Zero Mature, she is back to a healthy weight and her conditions have not progressed at all. She loves the taste and it's quite affordable for the quantity and quality. No complaints. Thanks for making a great product and keeping my little buddy healthy!

This cat food has made a big difference in my 17 year old cats. Both have chronic kidney disease. They both eat this food when they will not eat a lot of other foods. We feed them wet food and this dry food. It has made them interested in eating again. I can even give them this food as treats. They really like it. And it’s good for them. It is wonderful to see them happier and more playful and interested in eating again. Thank you for making this cat food. I highly recommend it.

  20. lyn D.

I always recommend YA, especially when people find out they have a kitty with Diabetes. I know that serving YA Diabetic food to our boys when they were diagnosed helped save their lives, and it helped get that disease under control and into remission for them. We had 3 cats that were diabetic.

  21. Julie C.

I have to express my deepest and sincerest thanks. About a year and a half ago my cat was diagnosed with diabetes while undergoing treatment for a stone in his bladder. I struggled maintaining his blood sugar levels, nothing seemed to work he was up to 7 ccs of insulin twice a day and barely dropping below 300. Then I had a couple scare incidents where he was dropping below 50. I realized that those were days that he was eating less. He was on a special food for urinary crystals, And I learned that was 27% carbs. First, I switched him to a much lower carb kibble, (he abhors wet food and will starve himself for 3 days rather than eat it, and then only enough to curb his hunger) and that helped, but your kibble has really brought him back to life. Since he has been on your Zero Mature recipe, it is like my 10-year-old little man is … well … Young again! I spent over a year barely seeing him and him having difficulty even walking developing ataxia in his hind legs. Now he is back to annoying me at all hours, running around the house, jumping up on the sofa and tables, I might have to get him a cat tree again soon! Thank you so much for everything that you do! Thank you so much for bringing life back to my baby boy!

  22. Bill G.

Our cat Colby was diagnosed with diabetes. He was placed on insulin injections and was also having severe diabetic neuropathy. He could barely walk on his hind legs. The vet recommended a zero carb diet of wet foods. He was so picky! No matter what we tried he wouldn’t touch it. I found this thru an internet search for dry food. He loves it! He’s been on it about 3 weeks now and absolutely loves it. No more pain meds, insulin down to 1 IU. He’s acting like he did when he was half this age. Thanks again YA!

  23. Veronica J.

My male cat Smokey (Mo-Mo) was getting too heavy for his size but he loves his "crunchie" food, and eliminating dry kibbles from his diet was going to be a dilemma since I find it hard to tell him "no" (needless to say, he is so spoiled). However, my vet suggested Young Again Zero Mature to help him lose weight while still getting his "crunchies". I knew my vet's suggestion of was important to his over-all health and well-being and I tried it. Moving forward, all three cats, including his mom, Snowy and his sister, Nellie simply love eating Young Again Zero Mature. And, their transition of switching dry food brands was super easy. They, now, have been eating it for a two months and seeing Mo-Mo lose weight and still have his "crunchies" makes me a very happy Hu-MOM and a loyal customer.

  24. Jenifer

I just want to say thank you. My cat is newly diabetic and for two weeks we fought to find anything he would eat that fell into the vets approved category. We could not get him to eat a single wet food. The vet finally directed us to your mature zero. He loves it. His blood sugar is down 300 points. He is playing with toys and prancing around the house like he owns it. Thank you so much for the work you're doing! My Zeus hasn't been this energetic or happy in months. Again, thank you. You saved him.

Long Review 🙂 I have waited a full 30 days since receiving my first bag to share my experiences. All 7 of my cats from 4 to 13 just was not doing good and one was in terrible shape no matter what I fed and knew he had diabetes and dreading the shots to come then the others had either thick dandruff & greasy coats or both . They were on a top premium dry food XXXXXX that always smelled rotten and XXXXX can food at night and still they looked horrible so I went on a limb and I ordered Zero Mature . The first 2 weeks where rough on everyone .Squeak with the diabetes looked like his days were numbered and diarrhea was gagging from of all of them as their systems cleaned and balanced and I added in drained water packed tuna 1 can twice a day between them all due to the massive weight loss but no one refused the zero mature and it smelled clean and fresh and wonderful and within days the diarrhea started to clear up then going into week 3 Squeak started forming normal poop instead of off and on diarrhea and now all the coats are looking amazing . The short haired cats are completely free of dandruff and look like mini panthers and the long haired ones …wow …the greasy coats are 80% better and Squeak actually is coming into the living room for cuddles . My cats look and feel excellent just in 30 days even mama cat at 13 is blasting around the house again she has 4 – 12 year old babies 🙂 that she can out play them now . To say I am amazed and thankful is a understatement .The shedding has become almost null and when I brush them its not hand fulls anymore and bright eyes and talking to me and OMG and no puke every morning anymore and hairballs are once in a while .I will work them off the Tuna next month but for now with the dramatic weight loss I thought they needed a little more and most were very overweight it's been a learning curve .I'll end up saving money once I discontinue the Tuna next month so it seems high at first but when you work out the budget its still expensive but the benefits are 100% worth it.I'll update this wonderful journey at Christmas .Take a leap and put your animals on Young Again . THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!! For an amazing and true carnivore diet for my cats.

This food is keeping my cat in diabetic remission. She was diagnosed June 1, off insulin since June 15 and this food has been a lifesaver. She is no longer obese, my other cat is also interested in this food. So for right now, everything has been really good. Both cats tolerating and this is not affecting the blood glucose in any bad way. Her blood sugars have been consistently in the 90s. Very grateful for the cat diabetes support Facebook page highly recommending this food.

  27. Carol C.

My kitty was diabetic for 18 months. Got her on low carb wet food, but she missed the crunch from her dry food. I now supplement her with Young Again Zero and she loves it, and has also been in diabetic remission for 10 months. My non diabetic kitty will only eat dry food and she loves the Young Again and although she’s almost 11, she acts like a crazy kitten.

  28. Chrissy

I first found Young Again Zero Mature after extensive research to help our cat with kidney disease. This had lower phosphorous plus much better ingredients and nutrition than most of the prescription foods! It was a huge bonus that our other two cats could also eat it and all three liked it from day one. Free feeding allowed our sick kitty to eat whenever she felt like it, which helped her re-gain some of the weight she'd lost in the initial kidney failure crisis. Our other female cat gradually lost the extra 2 lbs she was lugging around and just had an excellent check-up at the vet! Our male cat has maintained a healthy weight. Though we inevitably had to say goodbye to our cat who had kidney disease, we took comfort knowing she had the best possible final months, including being able to enjoy food she actually liked. It's a silver lining that her condition led us to this food that I hope will help our other cats, now about 12 years old, stay as healthy as possible for as long as possible. For the record, we were previously feeding a high-quality dry food from a very well-regarded brand recommended by our vet, so the improvements in our healthy adult cats are an especially strong testament that Young Again is doing something really special!

I cannot speak highly enough about this food!! My cat was diagnosed with feline diabetes earlier this year. His glucose in the beginning was anywhere between 500-600 but in the beginning was high 600’s. His vet put him on insulin and the journey began. We went through two insulins before we got to the very last insulin that we could try. Nothing would bring his glucose to normal levels. We even switched him to the prescription diet. I won’t name which one it is, but we tried all three with no success, he didn’t like them. His insulin was still high even with the insulin and the food he was getting injected twice a day and he was on 4 mm 2x daily. I was pretty much at my wits end and so is he until I seen someone on the Internet name Mallory she’s from all about cats and she had mentioned this food. So I decided to look them up and give them a try and I could not be any happier! My cats love it and I took him in for his bloodwork today and he is normal. He’s at a 98 he does not require any more insulin and no more prescription foods. I will never go back, thank you so much young again!

Outstanding product and customer support. My Vet was concerned for my Persian kitten's weight (almost 15 pounds at 18 months on dry food), and recommended this company. Frodo not only dropped the extra pounds, but is more active, alert, and his fur feels more silky. thank you!

Hi, I wanted to give you an update about my 7-year-old female cat’s (Nestle) transition from consuming commercial dry food to Young Again. My goal for switching her to Young Again is to get her to a healthy weight (drop weight), prevent diabetes, protect her kidneys, and curb her habit of overeating. Since she is a chowhound, she took to Young Again very quickly. I figured she would end up eating too much and likely throwing up, plus go back to eating again; therefore, I followed the instructions provided regarding distracting her to get her mind off the bowl of Young Again food after it looked like she had gobbled down about 20 kibbles by calling her to another room and letting her chase a soft rope. Another time on that same day, I took her outside to explore the yard (which she does every day). By 10 PM that evening, I decided that I’d just leave the bowl out overnight since she is a free-choice eater and hope for the best. To my surprise and delight, when I checked her bowl of Young Again food in the morning, it was obvious that she had not eaten nearly as much of the young again food as she would have done with her old food. Now about 2 weeks out, the novelty of Young Again has worn off and she is eating less often and appears to be happier and have more energy. To assure that she is eating the older Young Again kibbles first, I put new fresh food in a clean bowl and top it off with the older food each night. This way she does not waste any kibble and the food consumed before the 7-day mark. I hope others who try Young Again stick to the “intro phase” even when navigating through the transition becomes frustrating or time-consuming because the temporary sacrifice and discomfort will produce a long-term benefit to the well-being of their furry friend. Thank you very much for this amazing food, Gloria

When my 13 yr. old Maine Coon was diagnosed with diabetes in March '23, I was overwhelmed at the prospect of caring for a diabetic cat. I'm 76 years old and care for 10 cats by myself. After much research I found Young Again and read the testimonials, but fear and skepticism caused me to wonder if remission could really be possible. I immediately ordered the Zero Mature food to give it a try. There were many challenges during the brief period of blood testing and adjusting insulin doses, but the additional support I received from Jennifer and Michael(owner) at Young Again was priceless to me while I struggled. I am elated to report that after 3 weeks of free feeding all 10 of my cats on this miraculous food, my diabetic cat has gone into complete remission! His glucose numbers are now down from the 400's to consistently reading in the 70's – 90's. INCREDIBLE!!! I cannot thank Young Again Pet Food enough for saving my beloved Tux from having to suffer with diabetes and a shortened life. Carol Zuccarini

This is the food you need for your diabetic cat (and all his furry friends)! My vet recommended this food after success stories with another client. Gus’s numbers have never been lower! He was ranging 400-500 before switching to YA. Now he is 125-375, and there have been 2 mornings he did not need insulin. You’ll be asking the question, “How low is too low to give insulin?” with this food! Our other 8 non-diabetic cats also eat this, and they are looking healthier than ever! 50 pounds of food has lasted us 2 months. We were buying 20-lb bags weekly(80 lbs per month). I highly recommend YA for all your fur babies!

  34. Jennifer F.

October 2021 my 12 yr old Ragdoll Joey was diagnosed with diabetes. His glucose was high and started on insulin twice a day. My Vet said he never had a diet change help a cat off insulin. I researched diabetic cat foods and discovered Young Again. It's worth every dollar! Within 2 weeks he had normal sugars and was off insulin. It's been 17 months, he's active has lost a little weight but was a bit overweight to start. He also loves the treats! Only negative thing is smelly stool once a day, you need to clean the litterbox Asap. Thank You YoungAgain

Young Again note: Smelly stool can be caused by over consumption and can be resolved.  We are happy to help you!

Our 10 year old cat was diagnosed in December with diabetes. We spent 3 months with his sugars up and down but, mostly up. He'd developed plantigrade and couldn't get up on couches or beds without assistance. I heard about this food in a diabetic cat Facebook group and cage to three sure. The reviews were glowing so, I bought a small bag. We give him a small scoop with about a third of a can of pate, within 2 weeks his numbers have dropped significantly and he's not had need of insulin in 2 days. And today, he jumped up onto the couch by himself. I couldn't be more pleased.

I am really grateful I found this site as I started ordering this food for my newly diagnosed diabetic 13 year old cat, Marley. After switching his dry food to this(I also am free feeding to my other 3 cats too), about 3 months ago, I can now say he is in remission and hasn't had any insulin in 4 weeks!! His blood glucose readings have been around 131 to 159 in the morning with NO insulin at all! Thank you so much!

Wow. This food is a diabetic cat moms dream come true. We have four cats (ages 4yo-11yo), and one of them was diagnosed with diabetes about a year ago. We initially tried “keto kibble” but its insanely expensive and the use of beet fiber makes the kibble so hard one of my cats couldn’t chew it (and would just barf the pieces up whole). We tried switching to a good (but not necessarily diabetes friendly kibble) hoping that if we got our diabetic cat to fill up on carbohydrate free canned food he would more or less leave the other cats kibble alone because we have always free fed kibble (nope, that lead to him almost dying of ketoacidosis because we could not keep his blood sugar under control). I heard about youngagain in a group on facebook, and thought I would give it a try. I am so glad I did! All four of my cats took to it immediately. Within 24 hours my diabetic cats blood sugar was at 286 with no insulin (usually he would be well above 600 with no insulin which is scary!!). We had been giving him 3-5 units of insulin twice a day and were barely keeping it under control. He needs so much less insulin on this food. Its incredible how much a simple dietary change can make. When you consider the serving size compared to other food, one pound of this food lasts us twice as long as our previous kibble. Combined with the fact we need less insulin, this food is definitely saving us money (and saving our cats health!!!). Seriously, this kitty kibble is as close to perfect as you will find. Do yourself (and your cats) a favor and order this stuff right meow.

My old cat is a hot mess of diseases (diabetes, kidney failure, liver disease, heart murmer, chronic nasal infection and utis… ). She was staying in the hospital for 4 days at least once a month in some crisis. As a diabetes got to the point of needing treatment, she was very anorexic and we just frankly expected she would die within the next couple months if not weeks. She refuses all of the under 5% carb wet foods – so that recommended diabetes diet is out. This and another brand saved her. At first when I got sample she preferred the other brand. But as she got acclimated to this one this became THE ONE AND ONLY. It is all she'll eat. And she actually comes running when I put fresh food in (even though i free feed!). She's put on the perfect amount of weight, and has a great appetite now even when she's all sniffly and can't smell the food. Her kidney numbers at the vet are much better, and her diabetes numbers are between 100 and 180 at all times. I feel very comfortable with the routine, and it's no longer a 'wait to die' or constant struggle just to keep her alive- she's just living and living well. And so are we!

  39. Lauren

We had a 14 year old cat with problematic kidney levels. I did a ton of research for dry foods that would be appropriate (and as any one in this position knows, wet foods are almost entirely recommended for kidney decline, but dry was preferred for our situation). I hated the ingredients of some of the 'vet prescribed' choices. Just terrible. The other challenge for us is that we had a 2 year old 'foster fail' in our lives and so feeding both cats without a lot of specialty procedure was important. I wrote to the company a few times to determine what our options were, and to discuss some of my concerns, especially with regards to the 'dry', and was met with a thoughtful reply from the owner who addressed all my questions. Young Again Zero Mature fit our needs across the board and both cats were very happy with it. A year later, new bloodwork showed remarkable improvement in his kidney function. We couldn't be more pleased. Unfortunately, last year, he suffered an acute, unrelated infection which ultimately put him into kidney failure and we had to say goodbye. As crushing as that has been, we are so relieved to know he had clear evidence of improvement after being on this diet and his last year was in the best health he could be. Seeing his kidney numbers at a much better level a few months before he got sick, gave us a lot of peace of mind that we had cared for him properly, and that the infection was it's own unfortunate event. We have kept our younger cat on this diet and he's doing very well with luscious soft coat to boot. The price isn't much of an issue as compared to other higher quality foods, as we find one bag lasts quite some time and the auto ship is both flexible and convenient. The cherry on top is the customer service, which has been excellent. Give these products a try!

  40. Cat L.

Cat’s sugar is down from 371 to 206 in five weeks just switching to this food. No insulin.

I don't usually write reviews, but reading them is what convinced me to give this a try…so many people saying it caused their insulin dependent, diabetic cats to go into remission – I took a leap of faith and it paid off. This was a literal lifesaver for my 11yo cat, Lola. I began noticing her being sluggish, urinating frequently, increased water consumption and it seemed as if it pained her to jump high onto my bed…something she would do nightly. I was so concerned, I moved my bedding to the floor to sleep with her. I got her into the vet within 2wks of the onset of these "symptoms". Sure enough, they found elevated levels of glucose in her blood and urine. I was prescribed insulin and an Rx low carb food that has been out of stock everywhere since last year. I was desperate, stressed, and terrified. After researching and using the carb calculator in the YA website in order to find an immediate substitute, I learned most food choices at the pet store are loaded with carbs and the few that weren't Lola wanted nothing to do with. I ordered an 8 pound bag of YoungAgain Zero Mature (as well as the treats). Within 2wks, Lola no longer needed insulin and bounced back to her lively, feisty, diva self. I just placed an order for another 8 pound bag and signed up for the auto ship feature. Yes, it's spendier than other foods, but it literally saved her life and my mental health. There was no adjustment time needed for her as she took to the food instantly and loves it. She is 14 pounds and I give her about 4.5-5T a day (per her vet, she needs to lose a little weight, so I don't give her the recommended rounded 1/3c that is closer to 6T). Thank you for making such a wholesome product. I have my spoiled princess back and am eternally grateful. I'm a customer for life.

I give YA a big 5!  Alley at 18 is slim & sexy and no more insulin shots!!
You get a diabetes diagnosis and most vets just barely get cats BG down low enough for good control.  After using YA, Alley no longer needs insulin!  I praise you to all vets and anyone who really cares.

Alley was so depressed while on insulin because her BG was so high and she could sense how much we all hated shots!!
I’ve had type 1 for 52yrs and knew if we cut the carbs her BG would come down.
    THANK YOU YOUNG AGAIN!

  43. Elizabeth H.

Just wanted to send along great gratitude from our family of five felines, ages 1 to 15, all of whom are exhibiting significant positive improvements across multiple levels within their overall health. Thank you for providing the nutrition that has added such a wondeful new quality to their lives since we have switched to Young Again.

  44. Denise K.

UPDATE #2: My 9 yo cat has been insulin free for six weeks! Her recent urinalysis was perfect and showed no glucose being passed in the urine. Thank you YA Mature Zero!

My cat, Nigel, was in a local vet ER for 2 days because of bladder crystals. He was less than a year old at the time, so the vets told us he must have a 'bladder disease' and that we'd be dealing with this for the rest of his life. Of course they wanted him on a prescription food, and a wet food at that. He does not have any interest in wet food at all. So after his ER visit Nigel did eat 3 bags worth of the 4lb dry prescription food that's formulated to dissolve crystals and is essentially $10/lb. During that time I did some research, and came across YA food. It seemed perfect, the research made sense. Nigel is my first cat, but I knew already that cats do not need any carbs in their food for healthy life. I started using a carb calculator for the food I was using initially, the prescription food, and YA food. True to their word (YA) based on guaranteed analysis, their food has 1/5 to1/6 of the carbs these other brands do. The prescription foods do dissolve crystals, but since they're a high carb food, it's chemically formulated to dissolve them, and has less to do with the quality of the food itself. Young Again doesn't claim their food dissolves crystals, only that it helps to keep new ones from forming. I don't hold this against them as it may be different from cat to cat, and they would not want a customer to avoid seeking care when they should. But the basic premise is, if you correct the pH of your cat's urine (directly related to food quality/carbohydrate content), you'll both dissolve the existing crystals and avoid the recurrence of new ones. I had a vet confirm this during an appt this morning. All this to say, Nigel is now halfway through his 3rd bag of YA food (his hospital visit was in February) and he aced his vet visit today. They could feel no sediment in his bladder, and his urine analysis came back with zero indication of any of the six crystals they test for. Kudos to YA pet food for being true to their word. Nigel will be on this food for the rest of his kitty life. He's a sweet boy (I believe disposition is likely directly related to food), his coat looks great, he's got good energy and his poops and pees are amazing (lol). Hopefully all male cats that hate wet food find this website! I know I'll be spreading the word.

UPDATE: my 9 yo diabetic cat has been off insulin for almost four weeks!!! Her last fructosamine test was 251 and blood glucose 80 and holding steady. The cat looks great. My vet and I are pleased with the results your food has given us. She kept the labels from an empty bag I gave her to show other clients.

UPDATE #2: My 9 yo cat has been insulin free for six weeks! Her recent urinalysis was perfect and showed no glucose being passed in the urine. Thank you YA Mature Zero!

  47. Terri L.

Our 11 year old cat Sugar was diagnosed with diabetes. We caught it early, but he was already showing signs of neuropathy in his front and back paws. Our vet suggested Young Again ZERO Mature for Sugar and small doses of insulin. Within 2 months we are very happy to report he is off insulin and glucose levels are near 100. The food was the key to his remission. Very happy with this product. Signed… a very happy pet parent!

  48. Nancy G.

I bought this for my diabetic cat. I have two other cats that aren’t diabetic. I was concerned about the cost, but it is helping her, so that is wonderful. My other cats like it also. They do eat less of it than the grocery store cat food. A 8 pound bag lasts close to a month. In figuring the cost I am only spending about $20.00 more per month. Thank you for making such a great product.

  49. Tammy L.

Bought this for my 17 yr old cat that has kidney disease and diabetes. Fortunately, her diabetes is controlled with a low carb diet. I was worried that she wouldn't eat it. When I first opened the bag both my cats were interested but when I put the food down my 17 yr old walked away while my 12 yr old gobbled it up. A few days later they both are choosing this food over the wet food. I'm very happy that they like this food and it has the low phosphorus and low carbs my 17yr old needs! She also likes the free treats that were included so I will be buying those as well.

  50. Rosie J.

My 17-year-old cat with multiple health issues including kidney disease has been on this food for the past year. He looks and feels great, and his kidney numbers have remained in the "normal" range albeit on the high side. Even the vet is surprised at how well he's doing, expecting his numbers to worsen over time. We just switched to LID ZERO because of the added fiber for some digestive issues. My cat already loves it and I feel positive he will do as well on it as he did on ZERO.

  51. Susan C.

I just want to say thank you for your food. My diabetic cat started 2.5 yrs ago with YA, and is now on the kidney formula doing great. His glucose numbers are excellent, to the point now he’s either in remission or just very well controlled. I’ve recently reduced his insulin yet again to 1/2 unit, twice daily & will do another curve in 2 weeks. Sammie is happy, playing & his fur is super soft. The vet is very pleased with his health. I thank YA for his remarkable turnaround. I hope Sammie will continue to thrive, Thank You

My 9 yo cat is a kibble junkie and was diagnosed with diabetes a few months ago. Her numbers were 450+ and climbed to 550+ even on another low carb (touted @ 5.5%) kibble and insulin. I heard about YA Mature Zero and decided to give it a try. After the first week of mixing YA with her other food, her numbers dropped to 519. She has been on YA (and 3U insulin BID) exclusively for a month and her numbers dropped to 307 last week and the hind leg neuropathy has resolved itself. I have been working very closely with my vet, and she mentioned reducing the insulin dose should numbers continue to drop. My 15 yo cat has early-stage CKD, IBD/IBS, and eosinophilic granuloma. She is also a kibble junkie and I have been hand-feeding her pureed canned food for months because she would regurgitate the kibble and starve before she would eat canned food. I put her on YA LID kibble last month. She has stopped excessive grooming, her abdomen is starting to heal, she seems to have more energy/strength, and I have finally had success tapering her Prednisone without the granuloma flaring back up. My vet had never heard of Young Again, and I must admit we were both skeptical-so we are happy with the results we have had thus far.

This food has changed my life. I have 10 cats, all with varying needs due to food sensitivities and weight gain. My girl with the most food sensitivity issues had terrible lesions, digestive issues, feline acne, hair loss, fungal infections, and eosinophilic granulomas that caused terrible itching with excoriations. No medical intervention with steroids, etc. helped. None of the special LID or prescription diets worked for her. Other specialty companies with LID kibble with hydrolyzed protein didn't work. She was pulling the fur from her abdomen area due to overgrooming because her tummy hurt. She was miserable, I was miserable. After only 1 week of Young Again Zero Mature, all her lesions have gone away, itching is almost non-existent and her fur is starting to grow back on her abdomen, face, neck and shoulders. The second reason I made the switch is due to urinary disease. Sadly, I lost a beloved boy at 2.5 years old due to uroliths that could not be medically controlled. I vowed to never let this happen again. After reading all the research, I trust this food will keep all their levels in check. Thirdly, I have a very fat cat. He gained a large amount of weight after being neutered. I can't wait to see his progress. There is no food aggression — I've never really had that problem anyway, but was afraid that it may happen because of the small amount of kibble offered. I feed them 3x per day, they run over when they see me open the storage container. I had no issue transitioning them over to Young Again Zero Mature. They love the flavor, and there was no digestive upset with any of them. I couldn't be more pleased. I signed up for the bottomless bag to ensure I never run out. I think it is important to note that the price point for this food is excellent. I am under budget when purchasing this product. I have literally cut my cost by 50% because I can now feed them all the same thing, and less of it. Please never stop making this formula. The emotional relief this has given is beyond measure. Thank you a million times over.

  54. Sarah G.

Young Again Mature Zero put my cat into remission from diabetes and has kept him there for over a year. He went from 3 units of insulin and glucose numbers 350+ to less than 0.25 units of insulin and glucose readings 90-110 in 10 days. I was shocked how quickly his sugar dropped! The food is well worth the money for a much healthier cat (and so much money saved on insulin supplies).

  55. Danielle C.

I rarely write reviews, but I felt I should review this cat food. I have been struggling for a year with getting a low carb food my cat will eat. She is a dry food addict but all the low carb dry food (even prescription!) will spike up her glucose levels. She will not eat wet food so it’s been a huge struggle to find a food that she likes and doesn’t raise her glucose levels. I tried Young Again Mature Zero dry food and she loves it and it does not raise her glucose significantly. My struggle has ended and I am so happy I found this food! Thank you so much!

  56. Caitlin

My cat is obsessed with this food, and he is a very picky eater. He's had IBD for over 3 years and was just diagnosed with diabetes so finding the right food (low carb but easy on his tummy) was my top priority. So far this is working wonders! He's eating some canned food too but he always cries for kibble.

  57. Andrea T.

My diabetic boy (now 13.5+ years old) was diagnosed almost 3 years ago and LOVES this food! He really missed his kibble before we found this and he 100% looks forward to when I refill his bowl with this. He still eats mostly canned food, bit this doesn't affect his blood sugar numbers at all. Even my non-diabetic cats love it and will usually choose it over any other kibble I try to give them. 100% reccomend for any cat

  58. KiWi

Feeding my diabetic cat and CKD cat who eat together is a challenge. This food has fit the bill!

I would give you 10 stars if I could. A few years ago I found a mama cat and her kittens outside of my work. The mama was a little over a year old. As time went on, the mama started deteriorating quickly. She looked like an old lady because she wouldn’t groom. She wouldn’t do much of anything except lay by the water dish and drink. I took her to the vet and her blood glucose was 700! We quickly started her on insulin, then changed her insulin again. Everyone recommended wet food only but she hated wet food so we struggled for a while. I did a lot of research and found out the vet recommended food was high fiber and I read studies saying that was not good for diabetes. My sister in law told me about this food, then another lady I knew told me her friend’s cat went into remission. I had to give it a try because we were on our second insulin and still had numbers in the 300s. I was so glad I was home testing! Within a few days we had to skip a dose of insulin and then another. She’s been in remission 4.5 years now and she is the most playful kitten ever! She runs and jumps and plays all day and all night. I get her blood checked every year now and every year her numbers are great. I also love the fact that she doesn’t need a special diet since we are a multi cat household. We have 3 others ranging in age from 6-18 and they all do really great on this food. My 18 year old was diagnosed with CKD 3 years ago. She eats YoungAgain ZeroCarb and I give her supplements and she has not gotten worse.

  60. Danny S.

Been feeding my cats this food for years now. They have never had bladder issues again since this diet. My cats love it too! I was tired of the vet giving me meds almost monthly and stressing my cat out let alone the pain the poor thing was in. I finally had enough and demanded a new diet. Vets need to stop treating animals with drugs and find the cause of their issues.

  61. Susan

I wish I would have found this food earlier (prior to insulin) but I chose to go the vet route with prescription food which did not bring glucose # down. I am so happy now that my kitty is at normal range with 1 unit of insulin. I do a curve every few months to check. Kitty went from 450 to 110, very good & kitty feels great! I spread the word when I can.

  62. Angela M.

I have just ordered my second 8lb bag of Zero Mature and would like to take a minute to tell you why. I have two cats, one is a 13yo diabetic male that also has UT issues. He was diagnosed with diabetes approximately 6 months ago and his glucose read in the 400-500 range daily. My other cat is a 5yo petite female, no major health issues. I was feeding both cats expensive vet formula foods, two different formulas at that. Then tried wet only cat food for my male cat, and his glucose was still over 400 daily. Both cats would vomit several times daily, every day. Very frustrating. I bought your cat food after doing some online research, it did seem expensive and I have never free fed before, but figured why not try it. Within one week of eating this formula, both cats had stopped vomiting completely. My male cat's glucose was in the 300 range. It stayed in the 200-300 range for 3 weeks. Then, after the 4th week, his glucose has been in normal range, all day, every day. We tested him 2x daily and he no longer needs any insulin. We test him every 2 to 3 days now, and it is normal.

The black cat is Oscar, he is our 13 year old male that no longer needs insulin thanks to you. The other cat is our pretty Kady kitty, she is 4 1/2 years old and appreciates no longer getting sick to her stomach every time she eats! Oh, one more thing-this food is actually costing me less! Just amazing.

  63. Ellen S.

I started my diabetic cat on your Young Again Zero Mature cat food back in Oct-November 2016. I waited until now to e-mail you because I wanted to make sure it really does work. This food saved my cats life.

My 20 lb. 13 year old cat was diagnosed as having diabetes. Most likely brought on by the use of steroids for his skin allergies and his weight. He was so sick. Walking flat footed, drifting from high sugar to low. The Vet put him on 3 units of insulin twice a day. He seemed to do ok on it but wasn’t himself. I could tell he wasn’t happy. I read the ingredients on the Hills food that the vet prescribed and wasn’t impressed. I searched the internet for a low carb cat food and found Young Again. I was EXTREMELY skeptical. #1 I was told to free feed the cats. Well, the diabetic was also a gorger. He would eat until he popped. I said it was impossible to leave food out for them, not to mention the dogs would devour it. #2 the price. It’s expensive. #3 The claims seemed too good to be true. As a last ditch effort I tried it. I really had nothing to lose. The cat was going downhill.

Miraculously after being on this food for about a week his levels dropped fast. I’m glad I tested him and followed the directions and worked with my vet. The vet said to drop the insulin down to two units twice per day. His levels were still low, so we dropped down to one. Guess what? Still low. The vet said discontinue the insulin. So….After just about a week on Young Again (give or take a few days) he was off the insulin. In 3 months he was down to 18 lbs., which is a perfect weight for him. He can jump up on the bed again, he has energy and plays. His eyes are bright again. His skin hasn’t totally cleared up but it is much better than it was. I can free feed the cats in places the dogs can’t reach, the gorging has stopped and he is maintaining a healthy weight. One more plus: He no longer throws up all over the house. That poor cat would barf almost every day. Now that he’s on your food he’s fine it’s a rare occurrence. I’m glad I took your advice and followed your instructions even though I thought it wouldn’t work. I thank you and my cat thanks you.

P.S. only complaint I have is they did get loose stools during the transition and the smell was horrible. The looseness cleared up within a month. The smell has either subsided or we’ve gotten used to it.

I can’t express enough the blessing Young Again Zero Mature Cat food has been for me and my cats.  I have three Sammy, Sadie and Simon.  Sammy was overweight and has a growing fatty tumor on his shoulder.  I’m excited to say Sammy has lost weight and the fatty tumor has almost completely gone away!!!  This food has given my cats beautiful coats, spunk and a lot less throwing up.  I used to vacuum every day a small kitten…LOL…now there is a lot less hair loss which means less vacuuming for me!   This company is absolutely wonderful to work with and is always willing to help you and your pet with any problems that arise. #LOVINGYOUNGAGAINPETFOOD

I was trying to post this on the facebook page and it wouldn't let me for some reason- but I had to share…I brought Noel back from my mom to live with me after he was diagnosed diabetic around Christmas. He was on 3 units of insulin twice a day. I transferred him to my vet and just kept him on the "prescription" diabetic food because I didn't know any different. I had heard that cats could go into remission and it was my goal to do so. He was "stable" on his vet diet and insulin, but he was not losing weight and seemed to be starving all the time. I knew the vet foods still had a lot of carbs and I started to do some research for an alternative on the internet. I have to admit I was skeptical at first when i came across this food with the grand claims, but I thought it couldn't hurt to try- it was about the same price as the vet food and he's not a finicky eater- he has always eaten everything in sight- thus probably leading to the diabetes. I ordered an at- home glucose monitoring system at the same time. He had been taking his insulin shots so easily and after a few days and trial and error, he was accepting of me pricking his ear too. I followed the feeding guidelines and fed only Young Again Mature Zero and monitoring his glucose twice daily. Every day his numbers were dropping and within ONE week he was completely off insulin! I took him to the vet to make sure my monitor was accurate and they kept him an entire day for a glucose curve- they were amazed as I was that his numbers were normal and did not need insulin at this point.

  66. Celeste C.

"Our kitty Clint was diagnosed with diabetes last year with numbers in the high 500's. I would have to give him 3 units insulin 2x a day. His diabetes got so bad he developed neuropathy which I was almost to the point of putting him down. He couldn't walk and it was so very sad for him and us.

The vet wanted to put him on a special diet but the carb content was quite high, so I went ahead and researched foods with no carb, high protein. By following Young Again's protocol exactly, as of today Clint is no longer diabetic -his blood sugars are perfect!!! Perfect. He is no longer diabetic! He has lost weight, his coat is soft and bright and he is playful again.

Now this shows you with the proper nutrition your body can and will heal itself. It took us 7 months to get there but we did it!!"

  67. Shannon P.

Very grateful for the Young Again Zero Mature Health formula. My 10 year old son's cat was diagnosed with diabetes in January. His glucose reading during the first week ranged from 390-435. We immediately started him on the Rx formula our vet prescribed and it shot up to nearly 500.

I did a lot of research on various Diabetic Feline groups, many recommended a few specific flavors of XXXXX XXXXX pate. Despite it (and insulin) bringing his glucose numbers down hat wasn't enough for a kitty used to having food all day and then someone mentioned Young Again. I ordered our first bag and to be honest, I was pretty skeptical. I am very grateful to say he has been off insulin since March, his Neuropathy has resolved itself, he has lost fat and not muscle and his glucose readings stay in the 70-85 range.

When Wesley was first diagnosed, because the Neuropathy was so severe, our vet recommended euthanasia in front of my (then 9 year old) son. You have given a little boy's companion many more years of health.

  68. Sherry D.

I was introduced to Young Again cat food by people who were active in the feline diabetic community. My cat, Maury was diagnosed with diabetes overweight and had crystals in his urine and was a terribly finicky eater. I needed to get him off his highcarb kibble and he wouldn' touch wet food. That is when I tried Young Again, Zero Mature. Maury's diabetes has been in remission and he has lost weight while on his Young Again diet. The owner of the company was so patient and helpful with the slew of emails and phone calls to guide me through this tough time. Thank you Young Again.

  69. Tina T.

Bear is 9 years old and for the past 4 years had many UTI infections with crystals in his urine. The past year and currently he has been on Mature Zero cat food. I took him to the vet for a checkup and first report in a long time with no crystals or infection in his urine. Thank you, Young Again Cat Food. Bear appreciates it.

My Mercedes was diagnosed about 9 months ago. Her numbers were running from 200 to high 300's. She was on 1 unit of Lantus twice a day. My vet didn't want to even discuss diet change or home testing! Needless to say we switched vets, got her on some low carb dry and wet food. She was never fond of the wet. Her numbers were still in the 200's. Every now and then she'd drop down to the high 100's. I emailed you guys for samples and received them right away. She loved the food so I ordered a bag. I received that food on the 14th. Her doses every day got lower and lower and I can officially say she has been off insulin since the 18th!!! She looks happy, her coat looks better and she is jumping on things she hasn't jumped on in quite a while. And her numbers have been running between 50-85. Thank you again!
